Objective: to evaluate the effect of orthodontic treatment with fixed
appliances on periodontal tissues and to follow up the status of gingiva during 12 months of the fixed orthodontic treatment.
sample consisted of 30 patients undergoing orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances.
This study showed a clear increase in the values of the indices through time.
